With all the controversy surrounding alternative energies, there are a…
The new Kingspan Wind distributor in the region is Asahi Technology Co. Ltd, a multi-national engineering, procurement and construction company, headquartered in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. The company specialises in the maintenance of power plant and machinery as well as installing and servicing solar PV panels and small wind turbines.
Growth in Japan’s small wind energy industry continues to be strong, fuelled by the government feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme which offers significant returns to owners of wind turbines below 20kW for exporting electricity back to the national grid. The FIT shortens payback periods against the original cost, but more importantly, offers very good financial returns beyond this. As a result, small turbines such as the KW6 turbines are proving very attractive to investment companies which is why demand for the technology is rising.
The FIT does, however, carry with it certain obligations, including a requirement for owners to carry out regular inspections of the turbines to maintain levels of power generation and enhance grid stability, the responsibility for which will be managed in its entirety by Asahi Technology.
The KW6 wind turbine is the UK’s best-selling small wind turbine and over the years has amassed a huge global following. More than 4,000 KW6 turbines are currently installed in countries across the world. Fully tested and certified to international standards, the KW6 has a low maintenance design and is renowned for its consistently high performance in all wind speeds including storm-force conditions.
The turbine is expected to be awarded its Japanese class NK certification in the coming weeks from which we will be seeking additional distribution partners in Japan.
